No I have a buddy that lives out there...so I'm staying with him and we're hunting private land

That's even better. Just take some good glass and hiking boots. Good luck.

Those Muleys can hear better than you could ever imagine. I spooked 7 bucks at 150 yards when my carbon arrow slightly "tinged" a barbed wired fence. I've gotten away with more noise at 30 yards with a whitetail.

Good Luck! It's additive. I'm going back to settle the score one day.

Better practice wearing a thick coat/under garments. It can be really cold that late in the year, especially in the higher elevations.

If you're hunting steep country, get some boots that are made for it. Sore ankles and blisters can ruin a hunt.

Kenetrek boots are very good. I bought a pair of their non-insulated boots. Very comfortable with very little break in time needed.

Kenetrek & Lowa have some of the best technical boots there is. Boots fit differently for everybody, so trying out different ones and finding one that fits you and meets the criteria for the type of hunting you're doing is the key. For my backcountry bowhunt in Alaska in August I'm going with Lowa Tibets.
