Snapping Turtles - 03/24/14 08:39 AM
Is it legal to shoot them the with a bowfishing rig.I think this has been discussed on here before but I dont how to search for past topics on here.I havent been able to find anything in the reg. book, probably just overlooking it.My son is chomping at the bit to kill one with his new set up.I want to make sure he is legal. Thanks for any advice.

I'm not really sure but why would you want to? They dull points and are a pain in the azz to get off an arrow. Take him to a private pond and let him shoot at bream or little bass

I don't think it's legal to shoot any game fish.

I have shot alot of them in my younger days for my Grandad. He hated those things in his ponds.Yes there a pain but it was fun.One of those ponds is one we want to shootem in.We are going to put fish in for restocking and those turtles are there waiting.I know its illegal to shoot any gamefish so thats out.I know we could use a 22 but my son wants to use his new fishing rig.

Does the DCNR have any oversight on private ponds?
