ASA ProAm Fort Benning 2022 - 03/22/22 04:48 AM

Anyone besides me going? Hopefully I've got most of the bugs worked out of my bow since Foley. One thing is for damn sure, I'm not gonna let my bow out of my sight this time. I will say, this 50 yard class is definitely more challenging than the 45 yard class I shot last year.

Ar1220 are you and Karen going to shoot the team shoot on Thursday? I'm gonna see if I can get them to put me with the judging guys again.

I didn't think I was going to be able to when the victims advocate had told us that Tim's trial was starting on the 28th. Turns out it's not the trial but just some kind of hearing for one of the thugs. It may be years before it gets to trial.

I had a good day on the range today. I shot the team shoot with the judging guys. It was the best team I've ever been on. We had a stacked team with three pros Danny Evans, Loren Lohr, and Shawn Greathouse. We came in 3rd place with 46 up and won $40 each which paid for my team shoot ($20) and my GPO round ($20). So basically I got to shoot today for free.

I went to one back in 2004 or 5. I got one of the Ft Benning cabins in Uchee Creek near the ranges. Good times.

Well my weekend is over. I had a little trouble executing the shot and just couldn't hit 12's when I needed to. I was however fortunate enough to get to shoot with Keith Trail. He is one hell of a shot and he helped point out a few problems with my equipment like slack in my release trigger. Also told me how to fix it. That's the kind of thing I need to help make me a better shot.
I judged every target before I ranged and shot them. My yardage judging seems to be getting better because I only had two targets that I was 3-3.5 yards off on. The other 38 I was 2 yards or less off. Most were within a yard difference. It shouldn't be long, if I can keep improving, before I'll feel confident enough to move to a judging class.
Oh yeah, I did win the GPO precision shoot.

Here's a picture from the team shoot where we all shot 12's
