January 20 last season I stuck a buck and could never find him. I felt the shot was a little forward and high and I know I didn’t get good penetration because it looked like most of the arrow was sticking out when he ran off. To make a long story short, I tracked him 800-1000 yds that day and searched the area for several days following only to find my arrow about 800 yds from where I shot him. Two blades were broke off and not much blood on the arrow.
Well…Just pulled the camera from that area that hasn’t been checked since last season and that buck obviously survived. Pretty surprised and happy. I think I hit his shoulder blade.
Given the area of the wound on this deer, do y’all think it was probably a shoulder blade hit? It was a 30ish yd quartering slightly away shot.
