Present in shelby co for the first sit if the season. Overlooking deep dark green field of clover, turnips and oats. And maybe some corn here and there.

Fixing to head back in. Hunting a creek crossing this afternoon. Looking for a big nanny for the freezer. A big old buck would of course serve the purpose as well.

In a hardwood flat surrounded by eight big white oaks. Tons of acorn pieces and crap under them. Stuck a coyote right after I got settled in. On doe patrol today, first big nanny that comes to eat is getting ventilated.

^^^....and that’s why you should always carry a spare release in your pack.

Yep. Oh well, I have my trusty pocket knife. I'm going to see if I can fashion one out of a belt loop, a shoe string and a piece of deer jerky.

Behind my girlfriends house for the first time. Thought there was just a handful of deer around here but trail cam and sign say otherwise.

Had two does feed through at about 100yds. I wish one would come on up here and get some of these big white oak acorns

Doe down in shelby co. My first bow kill in probably 10 years. Clean pass thru. Went 60 yards or so.

I did that once. Went with fingers not knowing any better. Gut shot a nice doe on opening day. Since that day I buckle my release to my bow as soon as I case it or earlier. It’s always connected to my bow.

Missed a fat doe at 18yds. How the heck do you smoke a coyote walking at 35 and then miss a deer standing still at 18?!?!?

Yes and no. He was still alive walked up on him with the dog and Stephen was 30 yds behind. No backup shot but he was still very lively.

Not ideal, but still a win win situation there. Maybe you used the wrong pin. Good excuse!!

Re: Lftt 10/18 - 10/19/20 01:44 PM

Took the 12 year old with his crossbow today. Had a little 4 point walk out at 25 yards and surprisingly he gave it a pass although he has never killed one with the crossbow -I figured it out later - he remembered me saying that he had to clean whatever he killed this year and he decided it wouldn't be enough sausage to fool with. smile I laughed all the way home at him.
