LFTT 10/15/20 - 10/15/20 10:47 AM

Live from undisclosed public land this morning. It was rough getting in here. Boat motor was getting hot digging in the mud and tons of lily pads. I couldn’t see were I was going, but every 30 yards I would see my bright eye on a lily pad trail I marked yesterday. If they drop the water by 11am I will be in trouble. I’m on a trail with white oaks falling between crop fields and bedding area. People walking in today should run deer my way. Buck sign 40 yards away and a pissed off beaver for me parking my boat on his house. Good luck y’all and shoot straight!

Yesterday I was fighting the snakes off, but this morning I was more worried about a hungry alligator. Seen no snakes or gators, so I guess they waiting on the sun to come out to play. No mosquitos this morning yet. Just dark and quiet.

Re: LFTT 10/15/20 - 10/15/20 11:59 AM

Had a big bodied deer walk through before good shooting light at 10 yards. 1 deer by it’s self was probably the one I wanted. If it would have been 10 minutes later I would have known.

Wheeler refuge for me today. I’m determined to kill a deer out here this year. Doe and fawn right at shooting light so far. Surprised I didn’t see more trucks.

On the same trail where I stuck a doe last year...acorns are dropping pretty good. No scouting on this spot. I know they are here.

Good luck to everyone today, I’m stuck at work. Didn’t see but one truck on 67 at a refuge gate.

JD if you dug up mud on the way in and you're on Wheeler, you're probably already in trouble laugh

Me and you both! As I wrote that, I was curious how long it would take for someone to comment on.

Just had another deer try walking up on me and started blowin as well. Winds are supposed to be out of the south but it’s still stagnant.

Oh heck yes. Hahahaha I love it. Years ago I hauled a big doe out strapped across the hood of an old junker (blue) Toyota Camry. Then later stuffed it in the trunk to get it to the processor. You'll want to hang onto that picture!

Bad shot on a big doe, but as long as I don’t hit that shoulder, usually I will find them. That’s the exit hole.

I drug her 30 yards to the boat and trolled over to my buddy across the creek and he helped me. Always easier if someone is holding them front legs and I didn’t gut up my spot.

Re: LFTT 10/15/20 - 10/16/20 01:31 AM

Forgot my arrows this afternoon so I just went scouting. Heard commotion off in the distance and took cover behind a bush, and a 300+ boar walk up on me. let him get to about 7 yards before I stood and let my 45 eat. Unfortunately I was packing hollow points and not fmj like I thought and he got away. Be back at it in a different spot in the morning.

My boy got it done on his 1st bow buck. Just a cow horn spike but that's ok. I saw 5 and he saw 9. All within bow range. I didn't shoot hoping they would ease his way. They didn't but, it didn't matter. He was covered up too. Great day. His little boy got to wear his camp and pose for pics and see his 1st deer on the tailgate. [Linked Image][Linked Image]
