Present
First sit of the year and it was just meant for me to get busted this morn! Ain’t no more than got 50 yards from my truck and there’s 2 sets of eyes right on the trail I have to walk in on! Then get up the trail to where it opens up into a small food plant and there’s 2-3 sets of eyes on the other side of the field! Then no more than 10 mins into shooting time Ive got does all over the field, one just in range but no shot couple back behind her and a few way across on the tree line and out of nowhere the wind swirls every direction possible and old mama in the group furthest away goes to blowing and wakes up the whole neighborhood, they all sounded off for a few mins and still no shot on the one right in front of me, eventually they all skip back off into the woods where old mama was sounding off! Think it’s probably over for me today, but then just had a mama and young deer no spots cross about 100 yards out so idk!

Set up and ready with my two boys between hardwoods and pines. Hoping my oldest will get his first bow kill while I’m on camera duty! Good luck, fellas.

Skipped yesterday because we had over 6” of rainfall from this system . Thought I’d ease in this morning and hope the creek wasn’t to high but driving in towards my first spot the water is way out of the banks and my first choice in the woods is flooded. Went to the other spot that was on my kind and as I eased passed a creek that wasn’t full I thought it was going to work out, wrong, flooded as well. Of course my dumb butt left my climber at home so, observation from a shooting house it is. I could get a shot if one was to walk into a couple of areas. This past week has been a tumultuous week with work and a couple of other things & I'm just happy to be away from everything for a few hours. Good luck to all this morning!

I’m here on Uchee Creek for the last hunt of the weekend. Have seen 7 deer so far this morning but the only ones in range were a little 4 point and two fawns. Gotta be out by noon today so I’ll probably sit till 11 or so.

Just stuck a dang biggun. Really worried about the shot though. Think I may have hit shoulder and may not have gotten much penetration. Gonna give him as long as I can before I go look.

Good luck Coosa.....That's a tough one there especially if you're using mechanical broadheads. Most of the time those deer live to fight another day. If you find your arrow within 50-75 yards and only have 4-5 inches of penetration then he's gonna likely live

We got permission to stay after the noon cutoff for the SOA to track. Went back and tore camp down and now we’re going to look for him. I shot him at 830 and just backed straight out. Hoping for the best but still expecting the worse. I’ll definitely call CNC if we can even find anything to go off of.

Yeah that’s what I’m afraid of. But we’re gonna go take a good look and see what happens. He was five yards from my tree so I’m hoping that arrow had some good umph when it hit him.

If its on an SOA then you’re SOL as far as bringing in a tracker.
They won’t let us track on the SOA’s….Sorry brother…. I hope you find him and don’t even need one.

Re: LFTG 10-27 - 10/27/19 05:34 PM
I headed straight to a public land spot after I got off night shift. When I was walking in on the edge of thinned pines and a hardwood drain I started seeing acorns and caps on the ground. I picked out a tree, climbed up and was settled by 6:50. At 8:50 I spotted 3 does feeding about 75 yards away across the drain. They fed straight to me and I shot the biggest doe at 10 yards. I LOVE deer hunting 😀
Nice shoot southwood! And good luck coosa

Up a tree, trying to cut em off coming to a bean field at night. Huge oaks pouring acorns in this ditch but it’s all night club snacking
Congrats, Southwood!!!
I’m hunting some white oaks this afternoon. The wind likes to swirl in this hardwood bowl, but hopefully it’ll act right for me.

I’m set up in the same field I had the close encounter with a big buck last Sunday. In a little bit different set up cause of the wind, but I’m down wind of the trail he tried to use last time. Only have one arrow with me this afternoon forgot my quiver in Montgomery.
I’m back where I killed a doe last week! Edge of a feild witj few trees dropping

No luck at all on mine. We never found blood or the arrow. Grid searched the big hardwood bottom that he ran into for two hours with no sign of him. I really think that I just nailed his shoulder bone and the broad head didn’t make it through to the chest cavity.
I did find this dead head in there looking for mine. My deer had bladed G2s exactly like that on almost the exact same frame with a good bit longer tines/taller rack.

No problem.....Brandon runs the Alabama Blood Trailing Network so he can for sure put you in contact with someone. Don't hesitate to call him. There's guys out there that charge a fee....others that just ask for gas....some that do it for free....and folks with young pups they're just wanting to get work that would probably pay you.
I’ve had a few buddies call dogs in! If I don’t find a lot of sign in the morning I’ll call a dog in!! I’m thinking he’s a 3-3.5 year old clean 8 pt I’ll use every resource I can to Atleast try to find him
Went back this morning lost blood so I called Brandon hopefully someone can track today

Just a thought no guarantee. Put 2 bags of corn out away from spot, but nearby off your entry trail and a camera. Check in 2 weeks. Would be a small attempt to find out if he is still around.
