Finally out here. On the refuge in my traditional swamp spot to start the year.

Be in a tree this pm. Can’t wait will be the 1st sit of the year.

I'm in a hardwood bottom with swamp chestnuts and white oaks,

I'm sitting in a couple of rows of sawtooth next to a field.

Corn is really bringing em in. Have not gone yet but the cameras say it wont be hard of I decide to go they are thick in a couple of corned up places

In a little hardwood finger got a pretty good shooter on camera maybe he will show up this morning. Good luck fellas

Felt like deer killing weather when I left for work this morning. Y'all give em hell.

some otters came trucking through. Sounded like a train through the woods.

Hunting Bankhead National Forest this morning in some select cut pines. It’s thick with underbrush and the trails are pretty good. First spot was taken and had to scramble for a backup plan and here I sit. Good luck y’all!

Heard one blow a couple of times when I was about 250-300 yds from my stand. Wind was blowing to me so I don’t know if it heard me or was blowing at something else. Good luck to all

Know the feeling..........I've been in Kentucky this week hunting public and have had to scramble for backup spots to many times........now I'm back in bama at hunting club

Action started when I was half way up the tree........4 came by and 3 since then but not the buck I have in here!!

I'm in a hardwood finger at the edge of a fresh picked peanut field in Houston County. Lots of sign but didn't see anything yesterday evening and nothing this morning so far. I think the big weather change after the front has them a little spooked.

Just smoked probably the biggest deer of my life. Shot looked great and fairly sure I heard him crash but I'm shaking so bad I can't get out of stand ha ha... He is an absolute giant

He is a Bama buck, weird that he still has velvet but he does and my bro and I thought our best chance was with him still in velvet, my brother almost killed him Tuesday morning. Ive just sat here in the woods admiring him and gift of a truly blessed morning from the good Lord.

Ha...it was near the Oconaluftee Visitor Center in GSMNP. He and his cows were walking along the road. He bugled once, right beside our car from literally just a few feet away. That was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen/heard.

8 deer total. Two bucks. Four turkeys. Awesome morning in the woods, finally! Coulda had a slam dunk shot on a doe but wanted the buck that pushed her to me. Maybe next time.

I just settled in the stand for the first sit of the season. I'm in a brand new set we call the well field. Perched in a pocket of cedars in the corner of a 1 1/2 year old cutover bordered by a pasture and mature pines.
It looks like pigs been rooting in this low spot as it has been the best source of water for the deer during this drought. We finally. Got the rain Tuesday, but the creeks are still dry and very few puddles. I hope they continue the pattern of drinking here just before dark.

Very good deer movement this afternoon. Just not the right size for the spot I was hunting. If it wasn’t for cameras I would have tried to shoot a 2 1/2 eight point, but according to pictures there is bigger deer using there.

I went for last min hunt gonna bust a doe by the house I got 2 coming out on both sides regular so I was gonna kill one I set up where she normally comes out didn't c her... when I come home walking down drive i spotted her she came in a different way and was feeding where she always does lol

I got home at 5:44 and my wife said that she saw a buck cross the road so, I figured they were on their feet. I threw my camo on, grabbed my bow and headed to my new set at a creek intersection. At 6:11 #2 on my list strolled by at 18 yrs. He was quartering away. Didn't make the shot I would have liked but, he made it 75 yards to a 25' deep ditch and I spent a couple hours getting him out. Can't post pics.

Killed my best bow buck this afternoon. 9pt.

Got to sit for the first time yesterday afternoon. Got some new growth on my plot and have acorns falling everywhere. Had 4 does come in at 5 and hung out for 25-30 min. 2 big does and 2 spotted fawns. It was nice to be in a tree and I'm thankful it was not hot. Congrats on the kills. God Bless

Had an exciting afternoon, but no kills. Within 10 minutes of getting set up I had 4 bucks, 2 shooters, within 30 yards. I never had time to stand up before they were on top of me. They stalled for several minutes and knew something wasn't right before they moved on out. I had a coyote sound off really close about 15 minutes later. I went ahead and stood up and got my phone out. I YouTubed a rabbit in distress call with the phone and he came right to me. I shot, and missed. Better luck next time. I'll be thinking about the 4 bucks all year. They will haunt me.

Don't think about em too hard man...you will become obsessed!
