3D Tournaments - 08/23/19 07:26 PM

Do any of y'all shoot 3D tournaments in the off season? IBO or ASA?

Used to. I retired from it in 2013.

I love the 3-D range. I haven’t been in 2 years, being a new Dad @ 42 years of age will do things like that to you. I shot several ASA’s, some of the best fun and met some of the best people of my life. I highly recommend going to some ASA events! Robinhedd

Several years ago I shot a few ASA Pro-Am's and one IBO Worlds. Sure is fun. I need to get back in it. I floated around the top 80% area, but just never could put 2 days in a row of shooting.

Wife, son and myself shoot a couple of BHA shoots in the spring.
These are the best because we all walk and shoot together.
Then shoot the R100 in Eufaula. It’s a really fun shoot.

Thanks guys....I am wanting to get back into shooting tournaments. None of my friends care anything about it. Just looking for someone to help with my set-up and shoot/travel to tournaments with.

Used to all the time but i stopped when my boys started playing ball. Now my boys are older and my youngest has showed interest in it, so i may pick it back up again.......

Don't believe the IBO even has the Southern Triple Crown anymore? One of the most memorable (besides the ones i won) shoots for me was when me and my buddy shot in the pouring cold arse rain in Wetumpka one year 😳🤣

Not in a long while.

I shot a couple 3D shoots about a year or two back and I had poor experiences. It was the same as any disc golf, bowling, or regular golf tournaments I’ve been in. Everyone takes it way too seriously, they take forever, and act like pricks if you’re new.

20 targets shouldn’t take 4-6 hours to shoot (even with a shot gun start). Range the stupid thing and shoot.
I enjoyed shooting 3-D targets, and I love competition, but I’d just as well go shoot them by myself.

I hope you find more enjoyment in it then I ever did.

Totally opposite of what I've encountered. Sure it isn't you? I mean you did mention having issues at every other sporting events you attended 🤣🤣🤣🤣😆

And sorry if shooters taking their time bothered you. I would use my time allowed because i was after all shooting for a check most tournaments

I think the problem was people acting like they were shooting for a check but they weren’t 😂

That’s like the guy that takes 10 practice swings, lines up the shot 5 times, changes clubs 3 times, 3 more practice swings, then shanks the shot.

Up until my son got killed I shot somewhere every weekend that I didn't have to work. I've only been to one 3D shoot and Buckmasters since then. Funny how something like that just takes the desire right out of you.

I will say, Buckmasters is by far the most exciting and challenging tournament that I've ever shot.

I hope the desire and enjoyment comes back with time but right now it's hard to just get out of bed and keep going. My wife and I both had a hard day Saturday. It would have been Tim's 21 birthday.
