Reezen bow - 08/06/19 11:36 PM

Hi I'm interested in buying a Mathews Reezen. Dose any one in here like or dislike them?

I'm worried about the draw length , from what I have read online you have to change the cam to change the draw length.

Thanks

Yep, the cam has to be changed to adjust the draw length. A new cam from a dealer will run $80 to $100. A used one will run $40 to $50. Only a few of the Mathews solo cams allow draw length adjustments without changing the cam. The Maxcam can be adjusted up to 1”. The Minimax can be adjusted 1/2”. The draw length on the cam found on the LX, Outback and Ovation can be adjusted down 1/2” by moving the draw stop. But in doing so, the let off changes from 80% to 65%.

All of the Monster, NoCam and dual cam models allow you to change out modules to adjust the draw length.

I used to own a Reezen 7.0 and it was a decent shooter but that riser had more flex than any modern bow I’ve ever shot. Matter of fact, if I’m not mistaken...Mathews went to the waffle iron grid lock risers after the Reezen and I believe all that flex was the reason why.

I never owned one. There’s folks out there that like them, but they weren’t very popular. It got discontinued pretty quick. What’s your draw length Jonathan? Got a buddy that might be getting rid of a Z7 Xtreme. He’s upgrading to a Triax.

I owned a Reezen several years ago. Never could get comfortable with the back wall on it - it was quite harsh. Also had trouble with consistency in grouping arrows. Went back to a Switchback within a year.

I shoot Left handed.
Draw is 29.5 to 30. I think I haven't checked in 21 years.

Kinda thought it was, most of them are. LOL
My brother had a reezen and it shot better than my Feather Max. But compared to other bow I don't know how the Reezen holds up.

I had a left hand 7.0 Absolutely loved it. Was my favorite of all the bows I have ever owned and it would sling any arrow too. Traded it off to try a Hoyt alphamax 35, I was very disappointed,

It’s a 29” draw, 70# limbs and has one of my strings sets. It’ll come with a QAD rest. He wants $500.

I got the bow and the draw is to long. I got to reading around on the net, mainly on archery talk. Some people are changing the Reezen cam out with a 2010 year modle Z7 cam. Bows have been tunning fine with standard string.
The Z7 cam gives the bow a smooth draw . The Z7 cams have to be the cams made for the bows with se4 limbs.
I thought about trying this. The Reezen is a very nice bow, but I to fix the draw length no matter what.

I put a Z7 cam on my Reezen. It draws and shots so much smoother now wow!

I need to fine tune the cam in, take the pep sight out, set the kisser button n and paper tune it.
I read it made a difference but didn't expect this much.

Looks like your buss cable needs about 3 twists.

Re: Reezen bow - 08/16/19 01:27 AM

Dead on. thumbup How does it hold now? If it feels like the valley is short (like the bow is on the go) at full draw, you may want to take the twists back out. If the max weight is over 3# above the max weight of the limbs, you’ll want to take them out also. The buss cable is supposed to be aligned with the center of that hole on the cam. But since it’s a Z7 cam on a Reezen, the normal alignment may not apply.

Re: Reezen bow - 08/16/19 02:22 AM

I will take some out. At full draw if the string moves forward just a little the bow tyres to release back. I need to set string too. Axle to axle is long and brace highth is short. Both are out about a quarter of a inch.

The post I've read on Archery Talk have all said that it will the same measurements.
