Who all hunts turkey with a crossbow?

I noticed in the book they made it legal to hunt turkey now with a crossbow. Sounds like fun thinking about giving it a try.

They destroyed my dream of handgun hunting them. Who cares anymore...... (sigh)???

I see NO challenge hunting turkey with a crossbow, it's just like shooting a gun.

I don't understand why they legalized hunting them with a crossbow but took away handguns. Makes absolutely zero sense.

It actually makes a lot of sense. They make AR15's now that are considered pistols according to the ATF. They didn't want rifle hunting for turkeys, so they had to outlaw pistols. If anything is dumb, it's ATF definitions of firearms.

they could of made any AR platform illegal without screwing with the rest of the real hand gunners.

I think in Florida you can use a rifle not sure. TSS gives you 70 yards average crossbow 30. Who has the advantage? Whatever makes you 😁.

The Ravin's could possibly be a 100 yard weapon with some practice and a good scope. All other crossbows should be 50 yards and in. I have a Mission and I wouldn't shoot at one over 50 and don't like to shoot at anything over 40.

Dats Bovine Scat, only someone who has never used a crossbow would say that. Its much harder than a gun. You have to know your exact yardage, your setup, and turkey have good eyes. There is such an abundance of turkey everywhere, it seems like you could use whatever weapon you choose.

Just another topic for folk to exert their supremacism attitudes. I will say the “crossbow” gets the most flack of any weapon, it just ain’t fair

I've hunted deer with a crossbow for years and it's challenging to say the least. I've harvested several deer with it over the years and have tried hunting turkeys with it as well.
Best tactic for hunting turkeys is from a ground blind and have a 2 turkey decoys setup . Turkeys are not spooked at all by the presents of the blind.

Give the crossbow a try Muddy, pick one up at a Dealer and try it. I recommend Excalibur but what ever feels good to you.

When you shoot at a turkey with a bow/crossbow, do you shoot at the head or just shoot center of mass?

Try to get it in his vitals / low breast area, unless you are shooting those windmill heads that are designed to decapitate them. You pretty much want to put an arrow through his upper thigh to get in there with the heart and lungs. If his back is to you shoot him in that little bullseye the good lord gave him at the base of his tail fan.
