LFTT 12/19/18

I will be on Wheeler all day today. I’m set up on a good trail and post oak acorns this morning. I’m getting back wind from the water, so not a good start. I’m 150 yards from a cut corn field and 150 yards from bedding area. First time climb in this area this year, however I did scout it 2 weeks ago and marked this tree. Good luck y’all.

Well I’m set up perfect this afternoon, but my boat is not. My boat has carpet in it and extra boots and a ton of other stuff that stinks. Just had a big bodied deer coming my way, but my boat scent has me cut off. I wasn’t thinking nothing about it. It snorted one time and ran off. I’m on some very good buck sign and deep down inside I believe that was him at 3pm.

I put my rifle back in the case about 11 and got the bow out. Had to paper tune it and move the sight after putting a new rest on. In a tree now on some good feeding sign. Several red oaks around and acorns are plentiful right here.

Finally got me a full grown one. It wasn’t an easy drag like it should be hunting out of a boat. I shot him at 30 yards and he ran 40 yards and I was 100 yards from the boat. So 170 yard drag/wrestle with this big boy. He field dressed 145. The antler you see on the broke off side is a browtine and he had a little droptine broke off with the main beam. Very happy bow hunter here!
