Where and how do you attach your rangefinder to your safety vest? Got mine hooked to one of the clips for Vinod and the rangefinder in the pocket. A lot of string and movement

I'm prolly the least knowledgeable bow hunter on this site but I range objects around me then put it away. I figure that's one less thing to worry about when deer come into range.

I loop it around the bottom of the right binocular strap on my harness And tuck it into one of the right pockets on the harness.

35 yards and in, I range and put it away.
Over 35 yards, it hangs around my neck.

I mark trees around me. But also just lay it in my open fanny pack that I wrap around the tree. Usually have binos around neck with one arm through.

When mine is not in the pouch on my belt it’s around my neck too.

Repurposed smoke grenade pouch that's on my bino harness. Works like a charm.

Since I'm running and gunning for elk, mine's in my side leg pocket or a pouch on my belt.

Mine is on a piece of paracord over my right shoulder and under my left arm it’s out of the way and easy to range and slide it back out of the way

I have this strapped to the front of my safety harness and keep my range finder and other stuff that I'll need frequently in it. Also, to keep from having to use it multiple times, I just range land marks and create a little range card so that if I need to make a quick shot, I have a very good idea of the distance off the top of my head.

if its cold, in a hand muff around my waist (where my hands are anyway).

Range prior then put it away. Trees don’t move.

Re: Range finder placement - 12/21/18 07:44 PM

I tied an 10-12 inch paracord weave with a clasp on the end. I connect it to my bino harness and put it in the pocket of my vest. When I get in my stand I take it out and let it hang down by my side. If I need it I can reach down and raise it to my eye and then set it back down with minimal movement. I would like to shorten it some because I changed to a new bino harness this year and I used to clip it around the shoulder but on my new harness it buckles lower. I just haven't gotten around to shortening it yet.

That would work!

Re: Range finder placement - 12/23/18 04:06 AM

I have always thought that a magnetic attachment point allowing you to place/attach your range finder to the side of your hat would help to prevent excessive movement and allow you to easily access it when needed. Obviously, this attachment method would only be used while hunting.

Either way, mine hangs around my neck on its own lanyard.
