It's rough hunting these areas they burned right after hunting season last year there isn't a leaf anywhere. They'll slip up on you before you realize it

First sit of the year for me, little mist on the ride over but cleared out, wind in my face, I was scrolling through trail cam pics and had a doe slip up behind me and blow at me 3 or 4 times! How long should I give it to calm down or should I climb down?

What are the chances of getting hit in the head twice with hickory nuts on the hike in...

I’m out on Wheeler, found a pretty worn trail and even some acorns. I walked pretty danged far, hoping it pays off. Either way, happy to be out here once again.

Also Shaw, how high up are you?

It’s a Christmas miracle I saw deer on wheeler. Had a doe come within ten yards and everytime she stopped she’d be behind a tree. Still plenty of time

Re: LFTT 10-27-18 - 10/27/18 10:41 PM

I had 4 does and a fawn come in just to far away for a shot. One doe looked to be very old. So far I’ve seen 9 deer in 6 sits on this new club. Last year in I saw 15 deer in 63 hunts. Feeling optimistic about this season lol

Congrats on the kill! I ended up seeing 4 does, that was a great sit for me. I really struggle on Wheeler so it was good to know there are deer where I thought they would be. A little confidence boost. Don't know when the next time I'll hunt out there though.

Checking in late. Saw 2 does and two fawns. They were walking straight to me when something messed with them and one doe started stomping? Then they walked on the far side of the creek. Watched two does and 4 pt cross the creek. Then jumped 3 does walking out. Almost had a shot on the first set.

Hunted out of a shooting house in a easy to get to spot with my knee still in recovery. I saw 4 does/fawns. My guest on my farm this weekend saw 22 deer in a green field this evening 3 rack bucks 2-3 years old, and killed a doe. Nice to be the first hunters on 900 acres for the year![Linked Image]
