Troy has been knapping for years and is pretty good at it. High quality Coastal Plain chert when heat treated is as good as obsidian. I am still trying to find the source for that black iron Tallahatta sandstone that is so pretty.

Good looking points. I like the flake pattern on the red one. Is that indirect or is your aim that good?

Dumb question, when you knap your own points, are you aiming for a certain weight for the point, or do you just adjust in other ways?

all my knapping is by direct percussion or by ishi stick to finish the edge.

I don't worry so much about weight as size. I cant shoot worth a chit beyond 20 yards anyway....LOL

Well they look good. I've only made 15-20 points, still got a lot of practicing to do.

thats the way you learn, turning a pile of rocks into a pile of little rocks. Rinse. Repeat.

I have a bunch of flint I picked up in the Texas Hill Country, mostly grey/blue layers, but some tan to white.

I would gladly trade a few pounds in exchange for someone making me a spear point and a bird point.

If you ever come to the beach, I will swap you. Someone with more experience could definitely do you a better job, however.

I live in Canton, GA, but am near Selma at least once a year, same with York, and am in Birmingham several times a year.

Wife's dad lives near Gadsden. Could also send some UPS
