Just got busted by two does...

Hunting Wheeler all day. I have been patiently waiting for the right winds and conditions to hunt this buck. I seen him at 250 yards standing on the river bank last week. I have closed the distance this morning. I have atleast ten big rubs and one scrape within shooting range. No food here it’s just a travel route. I have set up where I can shoot sitting down, because the leaves are wet and he will be on me before I know it. Went through a lot of work to get here and not put out scent walking in. I’m 60 yards from the boat and pumped up. I put a friend on the other exit route 500 yards away. Good luck y’all!

I was downwind of them too...They definitely blew at me though. Guess this spot is done for today... getting down... also today isn't the day...

FWIW. I’ve had deer blowing at me while watching other deer not phased at all. There’s no way I would get down cause a deer blew at me a couple times. Another time. A 6 point blew at my brother this weekend at 30 steps and ran off to about 100 and then did the stare and stomp. There was some does he was watching also and he said they just looked at him like the 6 point was crazy and ended up feeding right by him 30 minutes later.

Go get em guys, I was supposed to be in the stand today but not feeling good after my run to Ohio. gcr003 like bustinbeards said sit tight, you can even blow back at them and not only calm them down but I have had does come back and feed on acorns under my stand after I matched her blowing at me.

When a doe comes hauling ass down the bottom during the rut it makes my heart skip a beat

Ahh yea remember reading that, very awesome. I just had a few friends telling me "hunt is over" that's why I was moving towards getting down.

She made the strangest sound as she was taking off, sounded almost like a crow or something. Don't really know how else to describe it. She made that noise about every few strides as they ran off.

Stay put. I used to think that if a deer blew at me, it was all over. I observed earlier in TN this season a deer standing 30 yards from me, looking at me, blowing and stomping. 4 deer 100 yards off never flinched.

Sure, sometimes the woods clearout, but deer blow for a variety of reasons. Other deer aren't always as leery of it as you might think.

Trying a new spot on wheeler. Sitting a tree line in between thick swamp and a ag field. Old road between has some fresh sign.

I moved to 3 big red oaks for this afternoon. The deer have been hammering these acorns since the rain yesterday. The wind is everwhich way so I climbed right in middle of them so I will have a chance one way or the other. Lol.

No good this afternoon, but my buddy I carried with me was in a good spot. He killed a small 8 point this morning.
