Headed after em. Hunting one specific deer. Hopefully another won’t make me have to make a decision.
Hunting Wheeler this morning. I’m set up on a pinch point at the back end of a slough. Maybe these deer want to keep dry before laying down and funnel right by me at 20 yards. Good luck y’all.

The rut should be getting started here soon, got in the shooting house and at 6:17 did a buck growl a couple times followed by a snort wheeze. Less than ten minutes I hear movement 50yds in front of me in some thick stuff. I don’t know if I moved or if I sniffled without thinking but the next 3-5 minutes was me 👂 no to a deer blow at me.

Just saw absolute stud about 15 mins ago, 400 yds. Big rack huge body, stopped him twice with the grunt call.

Think I’m going to move to another stand, this one is to open for the deer to stand off and look for the source ofthd rsttling. Had a buck grunt/burp at me around 7:49 but where it came from he could see the area but I couldn’t see him.

I'm back at it Saturday, going to Freedom Hills. Will be my first time back in the tree with my bow since the rifle opener, looking forward to it!

Well my move paid off to a degree, had one come in to my left and behind me, I turned to get a visual and he was only 20 ft from my stand and busted me.

Dang, I should hope so. It sounds like the bucks are on their feet by reading his posts.

No luck for me, man it was a great morning to be in a tree. That buck was awesome, I hoped the grunts would bring him in, but no luck. Robinhedd

Had to run some errands plus the last buck busting me meant time to get down. Jjlbuc10, the rut is starting up from what I can see, there were three new rubs between the two spots that I hunted this morning they were not there Sunday.
Now to figure out where to hunt this afternoon.

Back out here check a couple of things before getting in and this is what I found
One of the 3 new rubs has a scrape in front of it, deer tracks every where, trail cameras have about 5 times the normal pictures in just 5 days, and there was a new rub made after I left this morning

On a powerline crossing. Dad has been seeing a lot of activity this week on this powerline. Too early for the rut here, but I think they are just starting to move in the afternoons after this last full moon.

Just had a doe pop out at 28 yds. Wind is too light and variable. She didn't like something so she turned and walked the opposite way.
I busted a big doe this morning and traded it for a afternoon hunt on some private land. Walked into this new property and found two fresh scrapes and dumped doe pee in them and got up a tree. I just hope I didn’t make to much noise cleaning this tree up on this small property. Bucks only this afternoon. Come on big boy!
The deer didn’t make it to me this afternoon till it was to dark to shoot. Night walking son of a guns!

Congrats on the doe JD! Them old ones are smart but you’re on them so keep after it. Can’t wait to get back to AL over Xmas to try my luck.
I hit wheeler yesterday for the first time this year and seen nothing but two of their workers on four wheelers.
