Set up same place as yesterday evening. In some hardwoods with a beaver pond behind me and lake not to far through the woods. Good luck to the hunters out there this morning.
JD you got me wanting to make a trip to Wheeler this season. I used to hunt it all the time in college. Missed on a really good one there about 10 years ago. Some nice deer for sure if you can get on 'em.
My buddy seen a young buck this morning and said it come from me, I must have been asleep. Two days of scouting on Wheeler and I feel like I have found the magic spot. This should be an interesting afternoon. Good luck y’all.
Slept in and hung a stand this morning. I'm deep in a creek bottom. They are hammering water oaks back here. Rubs and scrapes everywhere. Haven't even got settled in stand and this happened...
I've got my ML with me this afternoon for my first hunt ever on our new property. My wife and I are planning on building a house here in the next few years, but I had to get everything in place first: shooting house, ladder stands, food plot, Sawtooth oaks, etc.
I've got one big, old deer on camera here, but I may not ever see him in the daylight...it's nice to finally get to hunt with a North wind!!!
Just got through, had twin fawns come out this afternoon watched them for nearly 30 mins, they got all squirrelly as they were leaving so I got ready and sure enough only a few mins after they left I put a hole through a decent buck.
I was going to post some pics but the pics that I took were done through a text to my wife and son so when deleted the text I deleted the photo and it wasn’t saved into my phone.
It was an interesting hunt, watched the twins feed and then watched them chew the strands of bark off of two different cedar saplings that had been rubbed by a buck. I got to hear the buck as he grunted five times walking in only 15 yds from me.
