Re: LFTT 10/29 - 10/29/17 06:57 AM

Settled in on top of a hardwood ridge that meets some planted pines. Lots of white oaks on the ground. Hopefully an ole nanny sneaks by. I hope these Jefferson County deer run uphill after they are shot!

Re: LFTT 10/29 - 10/29/17 10:33 AM

Saw some does early then this wind started blowing from every direction and probably been blown at 5 different times. May just try a box this afternoon to maybe keep scent down.

I didn't go this morning. Plan on going this evening. I wish the wind would lay down a little. It's been howling here so far all day.

Seemed like they moved later today had a doe walk under my stand at 915 but I let her walk. Too hard to get a deer out of that spot

Re: LFTT 10/29 - 10/29/17 12:28 PM

Bout to head out in a little over an out with all three of the younguns. Hopefully with the wind it’ll conceal their movement a bit

Re: LFTT 10/29 - 10/29/17 01:52 PM

Just got parked. Wind is nice this evenin. I just hope they move before dark. Pressure has slowed the daytime movement up here.

Killed a stud up here in Missouri. By far my biggest with a bow. Looks to be a heavy 8 point that should go 140 or maybe a little better.

One big doe within 5 yards, but no shot. Was nice to get in on some action and sure is a rush watching one come from out in a clear cut directly to your tree. Evercalm on the boots seemed to work.

I missed what had to be a 45 lb bobcat, tried to shoot under a limb, but shot under the cat also!

Re: LFTT 10/29 - 10/29/17 08:59 PM

Gotta love it when you drive an hour to take a break from med school studying and have a big doe finally ease up after 20 min of staring and her two babies starting to relax as well a movement down the draw heading my way in a spot that I am hunting a sure nuff big boy only to have some people blast multiple rounds of shotgun ammo right then and hear them laughing/cutting up scarring all the deer away...oh did I mention that the "some people" was my brother and the landowner not thinking it would hurt anything and didn't realize the sound carried directly across the lake to the other end of the property I was hunting...I had to say a prayer at the truck before I talked to them about not shooting at prime time...oh well
