3D shoots - 01/29/17 09:34 PM

I am looking to do some 3D archery shoots this year but know very little about it. There is one coming up Feb. 11/12 at Oak Mtn but can't seem to get very much information from BHA which is hosting the shoot. I don't want to go to this if I am going to be stuck shooting with pro's or people who have shot competitions for a while. My plan is to use my hunting set up but is that a good idea?

Yea you should be able to, I used to shoot all the time with my hunting bow. I believe it was called freestyle class. That's been along time though. I always enjoyed those shoots, there are none close to me anymore so I don't go to any.

They have a bow novice class and a hunter class. You should be good in either.

These BHA shoots are casual friendly competitions. It's just a bunch of people that wish it was still hunting season like myself and people that love to target shoot. Lots of people use their hunting setup. Bow Novice and Hunter classes are for these people and are the most popular classes. Bow Novice has a 30 yard max and Hunter class is 40 yard max. Just go, you'll love it. Nice people and good times.

Yes go to them. They are a blast. I hope to make a few this year since I couldn't make it last year. If you don't like competition and just was to shoot, you can just pay and shoot

You can shoot with whoever you want to. Take some friends, walk it together and shoot the bow novice class. 30 yard max and you can use your rangefinder.

It will cost you $5 to get in the park and $15 to shoot. The range is just past the golf course. There should be plenty of guys and gals there to show you the ropes so to speak. There are classes for all levels of shooters. Go and have a good time.

What do you want to know? FYI - You don't even have to keep your score or compete if you don't want to. It's up to you. Be as competitive as you like or not at all but HAVE FUN!
