Longest shot on a bobcat?

Longest shot on a bobcat? - 11/24/16 08:23 PM

Missed one this evening at 36 yds. I was thinking as I was drawn "dang he looks pretty small out there".

What is the longest shot you've taken on a bobcat or yote? No deer, they're bigger and we've done that thread about a gazillion times. What's the longest shot you would take? Did you kill them? I didn't have a ton of confidence in the shot so maybe I shouldn't have taken it, I don't know. It's the first arrow I've released this year though because it's the first opportunity I've had.

Those suckers are fast too. From the time I heard my arrow release until I heard it hit the ground he vanished. I did not see or hear him run away. It was like he got a star trek tractor beam or something. He was there and then he was not. I couldn't even tell you what direction he went.

I've never shot one with a bow, but if I saw one at 80, I'd sling an arrow at him

Caught one looking away at 27 yrs. He ran about 15 yrs. That was in 1979, a 50 lb bow shooting barebow with fingers. Those were some great days afield.

When I first drew he had his a$$ pointed at me. I was pretty certain I wouldn't make that shot and even if I did not sure how I could've hit any vitals. So I waited till he turned broadside. Didn't do any good though.

I've killed four with my bow. All in Alabama and all were practically under my tree.

I've also stuck four coyotes but all of them were in Illinois. All inside 30.

Longest and only bobcat with my bow was about 12 steps. Never heard him coming.

I shot a coyote at 40 this morning, but when shooting them I aim center, so not that hard. He was dragging intestines leaving

I 12 ringed a yote at 45 about 5 years ago. It was likely my best bow shot ever. Spitfires absolutely sliced him wide open. He went about 20 yards and that was that. I doubt I could do it again.

Shot one between the eyes at 25 yds. He stuck his head out from behind a tree and looked for the noise I was making. Broad head entered between the eyes and went down his throat poor guy did not fair well! Lucky shot

I killed a squirrel at 30. Total luck, but it helped boost my confidence after I had missed a doe. Got my first the next day.

I killed my biggest one at 35 yards. Ended up spine shooting him and had to shoot him three more times to finish the job. He weighed 35 lbs. I've killed five more that were between 15-25 yards. Also missed a few that were in the 30 yard range. They have super fast reaction times and are hard to hit past 25 yards.

Biggest one I ever shot was in a gas pipeline. He was at a ranged 210 yards. I cheated a lil' and used a 130 grain from a .270 grin, but still couldn't believe I hit him. He looked like a housecat at that distance.

He now resides in my living room.

Never shot a cat with a bow, but I've shot plenty of coons at that range and further

I know this is the bow forums, but I've never shot at a bobcat with a bow. My longest poke at one was with a 223. 425 yards. Missed the piss out of it.

I'm 0 for 3 on bobcats. Missed at 12 and 33 yards. Stuck one at 38. He made it into a nasty cutover and I didn't retrieve him. Those suckers are quick. The first two were broadside and I hit in front of both. The one I stuck was siting facing me and was completely broadside before that arrow got there. I'm aiming at the hindquarters on the next broadside shot I get at one.

The one and only bobcat I've seen in the wild I got lucky and nailed from 10 yards. It was right at dusk and he came in at a trot following a trail in front and below me, and I heard it coming so by the time it caught my movement from drawing my bow I was already on it. Perfect shot behind the shoulder. I'd rather be lucky than good!

I shot a coyote at 55 yards while on an elk hunt in Colorado. My brother was with me and was able to range him for me, which helped immensely. I was shooting from a kneeling position behind a blind. The arrow hit his lower chest and exited his back leg. He was bleeding badly but managed to run back to 72 yards. I lobbed another arrow at him but hit just under him. He expired in the sage brush while we hoped to see an elk approach the water tank we were sitting. Unfortunately that coyote probably ruined our chances of seeing elk that evening. The landowner was happy to hear we got a coyote though.

shot a yote at 65 yards from my stand one morning. He came down a ridge and bedded 65 yards from me where I could see him. My sights only went to 50 so I calcumalated where to hold for 65 and let her rip. I was as surprised as he was at the hit.

Never killed a bobcat with a bow. I did pin a coon to the ground bout 10 steps from the tree one time. Damn thing made all kinda noise and tore the arrow all to hell trying to get loose.

I got a bobcat at 27 3 weeks ago. No recovery but I saw a huge patch of blood as he left. I missed a jet black yote a few years back at 40. When I released he levitated straight up about 3 ft from a sitting position. Was amazing to watch.

Shot a coon one time between the eyes at 25 yards. He lay there for thirty minutes before getting up and running off with my arrow. Lost two more arrows trying to shoot him on the run. I did not try and recover him in the dark.
