Good luck everybody. I will be in Hardin County IL all week. I'm sittin at the truck now waiting on it to get light enough to ease in and find a spot.

Happy bday stripe! I'm sitting in a thinned hardwood stand where 3 new skidder rows come together. There's a lot of tracks in here! This little pine I'm in is rocking!

I'm hunting Black Warrior this morning. I'm set up in a 6 year old pine thicket with honey suckles and trails all around me. I'm in this Bucks bedroom, if he comes in here trying to sleep, I will be glad to give him a hand.

I'm set up in the same spot as the last few mornings. I'm in a chess match with an old alpha doe that busted Emmett in a loc-on last week. Every morning since she comes in behind that loc-on and blows. I'm in my Lone Wolf 70 yards up the bottom from that stand. I've had her in bow range 3 times but couldn't pull the shot off. She has no clue I'm here. I've named the evil bitch Hillary. grin

Emmett had to take the day off due to doctors orders. I'll be heading to Greene County for this afternoon's hunt.

2 does came in down wind and we had a stare off at about 60 yards. They eased around and went back the way they came. She didn't blow though.

Good luck everyone. I had planned to hunt all day, and then remembered I'm in grad school and have a ton of work this week...so I made the hard decision to stay in and work on that. I think I'll be out there this evening though, just gotta get some of this done.

Can't do LFTT but, headed out in a few minutes. Rain should be out of here within the next 30-45 minutes, with a wind shift from South to North-NNW. Small bucks have been running does the last week. Hopefully a shooter will come by this morning.

Set up in an acorn flat in Greene County near a thicket next to a few white oaks dropping every now and then.

Uh oh I talked a buddy into carrying me to his private land in Hamilton, Al. He picked me up at home and dropped me off at his honey hole. He don't know me very well, I'm going to bloody the woods up....lol. Free guided hunt! I will carry him to dead hole Bankhead next week.

On a dirt patch that would be a greenfield if it would rain. Watching 3 coons pick pecans, watched a turkey earlier. There's a crabapple tree and a few water oaks, for the deer to feed on. Good luck and stay safe.

What looked like a pinwheel heart shot ended up being a bit back. Going to give her some time and eat dinner then go back in.

Re: LFTT Tuesday 11/08 - 11/08/16 09:33 PM

Really Shaw ? Don't all bowhunters kill at least one deer every year with their bows ???? I didn't start till 1991 and I always killed at least a couple with my bow every year ! Excuse me, I killed nothing the first year. My first bow was used and when I drew it, the string stopped behind my ear ! I couldn't hit chit ! I had a new Browning the next season opener and started dropping deer then.

Just an update, me and my buddy went back in last night to look for the doe. Ended up finding where she had bedded up and lost the blood soon after. I'm still scratching my head. After the shot, she ran about 50 yards and stopped. From what I could see, she was bleeding right behind the shoulder but a tad lower than I had aimed. When she took off it looked like she was fixing to go down. I never found my arrow, but the shot was back further than I thought.
