Warf Bow - anybody here done it?

Curious to know if anyone here has converted an older compound riser into a "warf bow". If so, how'd it go? Would love to see pics & hear your stories.

I got an old Brown Bear last year that I'm considering converting/warf'ing into a recurve...

I've owned them but never made one. I would only suggest using quality parts rather than a homemade connection. Spigarelli makes one that is adjustable which might be useful if something didn't get lined up perfectly.

Tradtalks website is where you need to check. I've never done one but its all about the limb pad angle. That's what decides if you have a good candidate for a warf bow. You may be able to just bolt samick sage limbs on that one if your lucky, although that's not considered a true warf.

I think the Quinn Stallion is the ultimate warf bow isn't it?

So a warf bow is an old compound riser with traditional limbs put on it? For what reason? Is it so you can use compound sights and arrow rests? All I see is a maybe improved traditional bow with out the speed and let off advantages of a compound.

Yep; reason (for me) is, a) they don't make parts for old compounds so converting it to trad eliminates that problem, b) early compound designs were pathetic (by today's compound standards), and c) it *can* be a cheap way to get into a recurve, if you already have a good candidate riser (mentioned previously).

I will add I googled that bow. If it's a wood riser it may not be worth your trouble,you'll have a recurve but you'd be missing out on a lot of the reasons they build them out of the metal riser. Stability, cut past center, Berger holes, all that jazz.im not trying to talk you out of it, just something to consider. New samick sages are less than 200, and if you try to make it a true warf that accepts ilf limbs it may not be as cheap as you like. Would be fun though, I'd like to convert a black bear if I come across one.

SF Axiom + 21" riser - $140 - add medium 40lb limbs and you"ll have a 64" ILF bow that"ll be blazing fast, easy to shoot and to tune for less than $300 (depending on your limb choice).

My goal is not to create an ILF bow w/the Brown Bear riser (of course)... What I *might* do is just go ahead & get a Samick Sage, and then try the limbs out on my Brown Bear riser; that way, if it doesn't work, so be it; put the limbs on the Sage & shoot it & rock on down the road... Hard to complain about a nice, albeit entry level, recurve for $139 from 3 Rivers...

Any progress on the warf?

Not yet; I've decided to just get a Samick Sage (whole setup) & see if I can re-use the limbs on the Bear riser; if not, I've got the entire Samick to fall-back on & use... Plan to do this around Christmas when I've got a little extra spending $$$
