Wherever I can get the shafts the cheapest (Amazon, eBay, Archerytalk, etc.). Then I build them myself.

Huntersmark, don't be silly. We are here to help and answer questions. I think many of us buy cut shafts and build our own. Its easy and makes you take pride in your arras.
I always buy goldtips at best price and get shafts cut. I use Arizona
fletcher. It does all vanes at once. Good Luck

Post your Bow model, draw weight, draw length, and field point/broadhead weight and we could probably help with an arrow and spine.

Bear wild, 60lbs, 26.5 100g

Let me know if you need more info. Right now I found some Breman 400 ICS hunter 29in for 18 bucks (6 pack) at the local academy so I got them.

But would love to make sure Im using the right ones.

Re: where do you buy arrows? - 08/14/16 09:15 PM

400 is the correct spine and the Beman ICS Hunter is a good shaft. I would have them cut to 26.5" though. They will most likely shoot fine at 29", but will likely shoot a little better cut to the correct length.

1. How do you cut a carbon fiber arrow.

2. Where can I get the inserts for broadheads/fields points?

3. So If I do buy pre-built arrows find 26.5 or 27in?

Re: where do you buy arrows? - 08/14/16 09:29 PM

They're cut with a high speed saw. Any archery shop will be able to cut them. Do the already have the inserts that the points screw into installed? If not, you will need to get them at an archery shop. Academy will have them sometimes. Field points can be found most anywhere that sells any type of archery accessories. Most places that sell prebuilt arrows will cut them to length and install the inserts for a few bucks.

Basspro or Gander Mtn is about the closest thing I can think of that would cut them for me and thats a maybe. I purchased the bow a day ago at Grabow Outdoors but thats almost 2 hours away from where I live.

Ill check in those places and see what they say.

Thanks for the advice and help.I would rather be good to go then go out and injure a deer.

A lot of places online will cut your arrows to length and include the inserts for no additional cost.

And ask them about how to glue in inserts after they are cut.

Thanks I will just start ordering from him.

At Shaw can you explain more why 26.5, are arrows usually .5 inch longer then the max draw?

I've always herd that, but have never found it to be true.

Re: where do you buy arrows? - 08/15/16 08:53 PM

I always cut arrows the same as the draw length of the bow. Doing so will put the end if the shaft right at the front of the riser at full draw. This keeps the broadhead just in front of the riser. With the speeds today's bows are shooting, there's no need to cut them shorter.
