Copy and paste some of this from my other thread so I aint gotta tell it all over again.
Okay, I have been playing cat and mouse with this 8 all season.
I drew back on him early on and couldn't see my pin. If he was there 3 minutes earlier he's dead lol. Then a couple weeks later he walks under my stand right when I was fixin' to climb down and then he wouldn't leave! Wife wasn't happy as she worries.
Then I rattle him in and he runs in fast and hard. I had an easy brisket shot at 12 yards but waited for an 8 yard broadside shot. Murphy's Law being what it is I clip the side of a one inch sapling and end up with a clean arrow with one drop of blood on the broadhead.
He disappeared for a few weeks until he walked past yesterday. He was coming in to a can call and when he kept going past I flipped the can twice and he stopped (but never looked) I stopped him with a dominant buck grunt a second time for a second, then a tending grunt stopped him again for longer but he kept on going never even turning his head at me.
I went out there again and looked at the card on the lcd screen in the camera. He was 25 yards in front of my stand 10 minutes after I left ahead of the rain yesterday.
Such is life...Turkey Season can't get here soon enough.
We came together many times this year and weather it was poor hunt craft or bad luck he bested me every time. After the other day he has really earned my respect.
He has a scar on his neck where my arrow deflected off a limb so that will be his name from here on out.
Next year he will be really big probably a 10 or better. I will look for him on the field of battle then. As for now I reckon he's earned a vacation.
I pulled the camera from that spot but if he shows up at the feeder on the other side of the property in the safe zone I will add some pics.
