Any of you trout experts got any clue what I caught at lake mitchell today.

Rainbow trout. Oddly enough it looks like a hatchery raised fish, blunt nose and clipped adipose fin. Did they stock some in there?

I’m pretty sure they stock trout below Noccalula falls. That’s a good ways down stream from there though.

There are some places that stock ponds with trout in the winter, and they would have to get them out in the spring. I guess it's possible that they just drained one and they went into the Mitchell drainage and this one went all the way to the lake, where you caught him. I don't think he could have survived much longer.

That's about the most unusual catch I have ever heard of in Alabama!

He is likely dead he was not doing well when I released him. He was probably 14"long

I caught a Rainbow below Guntersville Dam one time in a cast net. I've never seen another in the Tennessee River down here in Alabama. That's a long way from where they're stocked.

Boy at church caught one out of the locust fork river a few years ago. I reckon some of them are travelers. What was the water temp?

He had to be about dead. Theyre not supposed to be below 55-60°
