Cooters Pond - 03/16/23 01:04 PM
Anyone been on the river lately? Club tourney there this weekend. I haven't been there in 5+ years and no practice for me. I'm sure the predicted 1.5" of rain will have the river rolling and muddy. You'll probably have to take a number to fish the back of Cooters. I believe most of the creeks there get dirty (Catoma does for sure). Will there be any cleaner water?

Swift is where I normally go. Figured it'd be muddy with the rain.

Sometimes you can get around the mouth of the creeks, muddy or not, and flip the heavier cover right on the banks with success. Tomorrow is gonna be tough, so tight to cover in the outer third of the creeks is where I would start with it being post frontal and chilly. Good luck!
Good luck to anyone going tomorrow! I am sure glad that I don't have to go fishing in this weather. I thought it was supposed to be fun.

It was tough as predicted. We ran to Swift Creek first thing and started in the back by the ramp fishing the grass and wood back there. Hit all the secondary points hard with chatterbait, spinenrbait, and occasionally flipping. We caught one small LM keeper. We didn't pull the plug on this soon enough. We caught some spots on the river late above Swift in that outside turn. Lots of current there.
11.5 lbs won our tourney. My regular partner won it on a spinnerbait in the back of a creek near Cooter's. Said he caught 20 or so fish that day with a BF right at 4 lbs. I'd say the river should be a lot of fun the next week or two.
