Livescope advice - 02/15/23 03:57 PM

Thinking about biting the bullet and purchasing a livescope set up and have a couple questions. I think I have settled on a Garmin system and will be using the Echomap UHD 93SV and the Panoptix livescope transducer.

What type of batteries are you guys that have them running? I am planning on a dedicated battery for just the livescope and screen? Trying not to spend a fortune on a battery for it but do want something that is going to last.

How are you mounting the transducer head? I would rather keep it off on the trolling motor so I can point it where i want to see instead of where the trolling motor is pointed.

I'm sure I will have a thousand more questions before this is over with and thanks in advance for any tips or advice you can give me.

Have mine on its own 30 Amp lithium battery.

What kind of trolling motor do you have? I have had mine mounted on separate pole but just purchased an Ultrex and will be moving transducer to a bracket off of the trolling motor (does not turn when trolling motor turns) and making a mount that I can move it to trolling motor shaft if wanted. There are some conditions where I like it on trolling motor shaft and other times when I want it separate. My transducer mount is not operated by hand though, it is electric operated (turned).

Spoke with a man at the ramp, he powers his whole system with 6ah 20v Dewalt drill battery. He said one full battery will power it all the day, atleast as long as he fishes.

Watch this. I made a similar box for mine, but much more simple with just the battery and a plug.

I'd get a 10 inch screen minimum

If you'll shop the interweb right now, you can get a 106SV (which is 10 times the unit a 93 is IMO) for about $1,000. If you're considering the LVS32 transducer, it'll work, but if at all possible get the LVS34.

I run mine dedicated with an Amped 14.8v 32ah lithium..... you can get it shipped to your door, with a mounting bracket and charger, for "about" $300.

My transducer is mounted to my trolling motor shaft, and most of the time that's how I want it, but I've been debating getting a stationary turret for it recently.

Most of the fish I'm catching are moving around, they're just in open water, often following bait or just roaming. Therefore I keep my foot on the trolling motor following them and my lure (you DON'T want it stationary). But if you're fishing for fish in a brushpile, for example, and it's windy, that stationary turret is a lifesaver. But CUSS they're friggin' pricey!

Thanks for the video link, That's kinda what I was thinking and helps me out a lot.
I will definitely look into the 10" screens before making a purchase
