Garmin Si/Di issues

Garmin Si/Di issues - 06/26/22 03:22 PM

How do I fix this? It’s noise I’m assuming but I can’t get it to do anything different. It’s pretty much all it would show in the water column and it was constant throughout the night no matter where I was and moving or not moving much. I can install any depthfinder made, but don’t know how to use them very well, never had the time to learn.

I moved the sensitivity around and it made no difference. I’m sure it’s a settings issue but I don’t know enough about it to know what to change. Transducer setting maybe?

Did you restore factory defaults? Sometimes I poke a wrong button and have to start over....

I haven’t on the water but I just did in the garage. This is on my duck boat and I haven’t been very happy with its performance so far. I can’t find a good resource to teach me how to fine tune it for my needs, which is crappie.

Is the power chord hooked straight to the battery or do you have a power source between battery and power chord? Wire size?

Directly to the battery with the units harness. No splices or added wire at all. This is on a flatbottom and this is at the back of the boat. It doesn’t matter if the engine is running or not running. This is basically all it ever shows. I think the settings are jacked up somehow, I just don’t know what they need to be set to in order to make it read like I want it to. I’ve been looking for a video detailing that on this unit but can’t find anything.

I don't really know that much about them , but when I first got a Garmin I thought it was easiest to interpret on the Traditional setting. Even the little Striker model looks pretty good on that setting.

I spent nearly an hour on the phone with a relative a few weeks back. He had bought a Livescope and got someone to install it, then got to the water for the first time and it wasn't working right at all. He finally got enough signal to text me a picture and the installer had set it in Perspective mode. I realized that as soon as I saw the screen, but we couldn't figure out how to change it. We went through all the settings and he finally called out Return to Default and I told to click that one. He instantly had a good screen that he could read. I told him to just use that for a trip or 2 and then he could start adjusting settings.

So maybe you can set it back to Default and then Traditional and use it a while that way. Good luck with it.

My Helix looks like that when I fish below the dam. Is this running or idle speed?

The speed varies but the picture doesn’t
