Took my boys to the coast for a quick overnighter to get after some pompano. Struck out late yesterday eve towards Ft. Morgan, and didn't do much better this morning, but we got enough for supper. My youngan's first pomps, and the first one's I've laid hands on in about 20 years. Glad to breathe the salt air and get sand on my feet once again. Expensive fish, but a good trip all around for the dudes. We did have some excitement for a bit this morning. Had a hit that drug the rod slam out of the holder. I wasn't set up for big stuff, so after thoroughly tangling two of my rigs, whatever it was bent the circle hook wide open and got off. Had another big hit 10 mins later. Never turned it, and it broke my 30 lb dropper flouro between the hook and the dropper knot.
Edit: the kayaks will be poised for action in about a month. It's about time to hit some Spanish right in the mouth!
