Corps of Engineers Boat Launches Closed

Corps of Engineers Boat Launches Closed - 03/25/20 09:06 PM

FYI for all you would-be crappie fishermen like myself, all of the corps of engineers launches are closed. The gates are locked and signs hung at the Gainesville and Sumter County recreation park ramp that say all launches are closed because of Covid 19. I can only surmise that the gates at all other COE ramps are locked as well.

They won't close a Walmart selling Chinese goods, but they will close a boat ramp. No one gets 6 feet from me when I'm backing in or taking out. I guess it has to be to keep the kids out who want to come and drink and make a small bon fire at night.

It didn't make a bit of sense to me either. I drove all the way down there last sunday afternoon to find out that they were all locked down. Infuriating.

I put in at Rocky Branch on Holt this morning, and when I got of to 17, that ramp was full of trucks too. I was told they were closed as well, but not today

I'm in Lake View as well. Rocky Branch was open for business two sundays ago right at the onset of the outbreak. That's another reason I was so surprised when I got down to Greene county and all launches were closed.

I don't see how. That would be like shutting down the interstate.
