I took the info in this thread and tried me some crappie fishing today, we caught exactly zero crappie. I am a terrible crappie fisherman. That is not ok with me.
That describes me to a T too. I can catch the crap out of them from Feb-June but the rest of the year is a real struggle. I keep trying to learn, and keep getting knocked back down.
Did you try today at Guntersville?
I asked a good friend of mine who fishes alot where he would go if somebody told him to fish the edge of grass near a creek channel. He said morgans cove and I knew exactly the grass he was talking about. When I got out there, it just didnt look like what I expected, most of the grass was short, right on bottom. I couldnt find any fish so I tried in the deeper parts of the channel, I never found any fish. I felt like I had just sat down to play fortnight with my son, if you know what I mean. I was lost. I didnt want to go sit under a bridge so we took out and went to the dam and caught a few fish, nothing to brag about. Im gona have to have somebody teach me what to look for as far as the crappie go, I just dont know what im doing. Ive found plenty of bait at times but ive never found crappie with them, then again maybe they were there and I didnt know what I was doing. Its just really discouraging being ignorant and thats what it boils down to, ignorance.
