Guntersville Giant - 02/19/19 08:29 PM

A young man that used to fish in a club I was in with his Dad, caught a 13 lb 7 oz giant on Guntersville yesterday. I don't have pics but it is easily found on Facebook. His name is Tyler Mahaffey. It is the 6th largest bass to come out of Guntersville. He had it weighed, then took it back and released it where he caught it. It missed the lake record by about a pound. His dad could catch a bass in a parking lot, however Tyler would often out fish his Dad. This is not a fluke with him. His whole family has fished the lake for many many years and they have caught multiple fish over 10 lbs.

Re: Guntersville Giant - 02/19/19 09:18 PM

Not surprising. The big pre-spawn females are all loaded with eggs right now and with the mild fall/winter and current water temp moving into the 50's, they are in great shape physically and feeding up before the spawn. Congrats to the guy, any "teen" fish is a 1 in a million fish.

No freaking kidding. I was out all day yesterday. Went to the lake with 10 dz minnows left with none. I'd get in a school of white bass and would catch 10 before I could get out of it. I started to mash em against the side of the boat lol. But I didnt.

You gonna kiss yo mama with that mouth??? laugh Stop talking filthy like that!! rofl

My username on another site used to be "710brownfish" (caught a 7-10 smallmouth on Pickwick). And to pat myself on the back, we released her and got a replica done.
If I could catch smallmouth within a short drive of my house, I'd seldom fish for green bass again.

There are lots of swimbaits and jig heads on the market. Can you be more specific?

Zoom swim bait in blue herring. Don't know about the jig head.
