Love it. The spot lock is a game changer.

I’ve had mine since March. It’s incredible. I love the auto deploy and stow feature. Spot lock is da bomb too. If there is any wind or any noticeable current and the boat is headed into it, you just sit dead still with spotlock on.

I will tell you, you need to practice stowing it manuallly while you’re on dry land. Mine has failed to stow twice. Once was due to a very small twig getting hung in the pivot point and once because my transducer cable saver coming loose.

It has failed to deploy one time while I was unloading the boat. That was caused by 3 rod handles getting tangled in the power and transducer cords.

The deploy and stow is very sensitive to anything being wrong. It will stop and give an error code instead of hammering down and breaking something.

If you get one, and you run ‘birds, I’d get one with the upgraded Mega transducer. They didn’t offer that option when I bought mine. I bought a “cable saver” system from Cornfileld crappie gear to route and mount my ducer. It works fine now that I know I have to keep the excessive slack adjusted out of the cable.

When mine gives up the ghost, I’ll buy another one. I like it that much. It is indispensable for unloading a boat by yourself. Ain’t no way I’m going back to the “long rope and drag” method.

Cody and Ben, I thought both of you had Ultrex TM’s.

Edit: I’m a big fan of the Ipilot link too. Not just because of what it does but because I much prefer the remote to the non link remote. I used a non link remote while fishing with a buddy this weekend and there’s a tremendous difference in the two remotes. My foot pedal is stored in one of the compartments on my boat. I never use it.

My boat has an Ultrex, tournament fishing during spring and summer I usually fish in my partners boat as it's a little bigger and newer and it has the ulterra

Re: Minn Kota Ulterra - 11/07/18 12:26 AM

I reckon I'm gonna, save up and get one with the iPilot LInk so I can network it with my Helix MEGA.

I gotta quit buy guns first though!

I was wanting some input from folks I trust.

I meant to reply last night and got busy.

Thanks for the input fellers!

LOL Thanks. I don't know how you couldn't LOVE that trolling motor. It's worth every, expensive penny that it costed.

Re: Minn Kota Ulterra - 11/07/18 03:21 AM

Like fur said it's a great motor. When I sell my boat next summer and get my next one it will have one on it. In fact I may replace my ultrex this winter with one but it's hard to fix something that's not broke.

Re: Minn Kota Ulterra - 11/07/18 03:28 AM

With the Ulterra having the auto deploy what is it that make the Ultrex their flagship model?

From my understanding, it just has power assisted steering along with everything else the Ulterra has except auto stow and deploy??

Re: Minn Kota Ulterra - 11/07/18 12:16 PM

The Ultrex is their flagship model because it was made to be their "smart" TM that functioned as a cable steer. Most people prefer the responsiveness of a cable steer. Interesting thing to me about the Ultrex is that the TM actually drives the foot pedal, instead of the other way around.

I don't know if the Ultrex comes with a remote or not.

You are correct, it does not have auto stow and deploy. Auto stow and deploy was why I bought the Ulterra. A Terrova would do everything I need but the auto s/d was the kicker for me.

Started installing my new Ulterra with the mega DI xducer tonight! Everything is lined up, drilled and the wiring is complete. Fiber-glassing the old holes right now. Should be done tomorrow. Got no first hand input but this weekend......we will see!

I ordered mine from BBG Marine....ordered Saturday and got it Monday. Got it all installed. Easy enough to do even on a center console.
