Ditto to G'ville dam

Ditto to G'ville dam - 04/14/18 02:15 PM

Is there a boat ramp between those two? For those who have run the river, how many miles is it from one to the other? Looks like 12-15 miles by my crude Google Earth calculations.

I think Cataco Creek is the only one and I wouldn't leave my truck and trailer at that ramp.

Wrong way wiley. I dont know of a ramp between ditto and g'ville dam? Other than the one just half mile or so east of ditto. Or the dirt ramp up the flint river.

If there is, I ain't found it. It is about a 20 minute trip in my boat. If we ever get a decent weekend, holler at me. We can meet at Ditto or G'Dam.

Yep, I didn't think very clearly before I typed on that one.

14 miles. There isn’t a public ramp between the two.

You have the concrete ramp at madison county boat harbor which is closed for repairs on hobbs island rd, the dirt ramp .5 miles east which has recently been blocked and gated. Flint river on hobbs island rd called chickasaw landing has a ramp, dirt ramp on clouds cove rd on paint rock river.
It probably is 14 miles like stated above but i figured 12 miles from ditto to dam because my boat would run maybe 25mph and it took me 23 minutes to get there. Exactly 3 gallons of fuel runnin a 16ft alum boat with a 1988 48hp console outboard. My 6 gallon tank would have fumes only when i got back to ditto. And that was runnin straight to dam, cuttin engine, driftin a mile then comin straight back to ditto....fumes every trip. Its a pretty long ride in a slow boat. Paint rock river ramp would cut it in half i bet.

Thanks for all the replies. I've been below the dam at G'ville a whole lot of times. I've never made that run though. I'm gonna change that.

There is a ramp off of Clouds Cove Rd in New Hope, but you have to stay in the Flint River for about a mile 2 miles before you hit the TN river. When the water is up its no problem, but when the water is down the ramp and the stretch to the big river is a little sketchy!

It's a pleasant and scenic run Fur. Be warned, some of the larger traffic can create some absolute HUGE wake so be mindful of that.

It’s on private land.

We should pick a Saturday, meet at Ditto's and head up to G' dam for a gentleman's catfish tournament.

Gentleman’s, as in $100 a boat? whistle I’m in!

I’m not driving all the way to Ditto though. I’ll meet y’all at the dam.

More like just bragging rights. And a chance to place a face with a name. Maybe I should have called it a GTG to fish and BS. I would toss a big slimy into FF's new boat, since he seems sensitive about it. grin
