Fishing around mobile bay - 09/20/17 06:41 PM

Hey guys I have to take the wife to mobile next week for a few days for some orientation. I'll have about three days to kill. Are their any piers or anything around mobile bay not terribly far from the airport Rd area?

What do you define as "not terribly far?"

30-45 mins

You could fish cedar point pier, which I've never had much luck on, or you could fish the Fairhope pier. To find a productive pier you'd probably have to drive a little further. You could also fish the jetties on Dauphin Island, which would what I would do.

Meaher State Park on the causeway.

They were catching decent redfish off Fairhope pier yesterday. Airport runs from one end of the city to the other though so could be 45 minutes from you to twice that or more depending on traffic.

Fairhope pier is nice too but a long way from the airport.

That's not a bad area to stay in as long as it's one of the decent hotels. It's only a mile or so from my house and I havent been murdered yet. The water is still fresh pretty far into the bay from all the rain we have had this month but the reds were biting the other day at the pier and we caught a bunch of mullet in the cast net too. You could try dauphin island as well, only about an hour from where you will be and it shouldnt be too crowded this time of the year.

We'll be at the La Quinta Inn just off the interstate. It looked to be one of the better ones and not an arm and a leg. I have to take her to orientation every morning and pick her up in the afternoon and maybe lunch a couple days. Thats the main reason I don't want to get to far away. This place at point clear sounds like it might be worth going to.

Take Airport back toward the airport (west) about 3.5-4 miles to Hillcrest Rd. (Alabama Power will be on your right). Turn right at Hillcrest and go 3/4 mile or so and Hero's Sports bar is on your left. Right next to USA campus.

Clipper sandwich is my favorite. Ignore the scaredy cats. You'll be fine where you are. Not like it's Birmingham, or Montgomery.

The hell is your problem? What's wrong with someone wanting to see pictures of what someone catches?

James, aren't you supposed to get my approval to post my image? rofl
It appear Rule break has a problem with the way things have been done here a long time. I didn't invent the phrase "If you don't have photo's it didn't happen".
