Carp fishing near birmingham - 07/18/17 12:46 PM

I'm moving to Birmingham in about a month. I've been trying to get a carp on the fly all summer but I don't know where to look in Birmingham. Anyone know of any water with some big ugly goldfish in it? I've checked grass carp off my list but I haven't been able to see the deal on a common.

Lake Purdy, Cahaba River both have catchable carp on a fly.

Oak mountain, the top lake on the back side of the park. Go all the way to the very back of the lake and it's really shallow. I always see a ton of them and some pretty big ones at that. Only thing is the water is really clear so not sure how that would affect you.

Been getting into fly fishing more over the summer. Will definitely have to check Oak Mountain out. Would love to hook onto one of those on my little 4 wt
