Swimming a Worm

Swimming a Worm - 07/15/17 02:18 PM

I didn't catch a whole lot of fish but this guy sure was fun on a medium rod. Swimming a worm in scattered grass in 6-8 feet.
Buddy of mine told me to try swimming the worm. They didn't knock the snot out of it. Rod just kinda got heavy. If it stayed in place, you were in thick weeds. If it started moving, you had a fish.
It was nice from 6:00-9:00, then it got HOT out there.

Rage tail swam on jig rigs in the ticket for numbers of guntersville. You can catch tons everyday but they all will be small.

The possibilities are endless with this one, but I will refrain for now.

I like a shad colored senko on a 1/8th to 1/4 oz belly weighted swimbait hook. When you stop the retrieve, it will still wobble down to the bottom like a stunned shad. Makes a real good bait to throw with the trolling motor down and wetting a hook in between docks or your next target.

Re: Swimming a Worm - 07/17/17 03:07 PM

Between docks I pick up a #7 Shad rap. Found a lot of fish that way.

Re: Swimming a Worm - 07/17/17 11:29 PM

I have not tied on a shad rap in a loooong time. I would tie one on a spinning reel almost everytime I decided to fish rip rap and bluff walls. I may tie one on next time I go out. I've got some old old ones that I swapped out the trebles and split rings on a year or so ago but they stayed in the box with the small jerks, scatter raps, and fire tigers.

I'ver caught some pigs off rip rap. Especially in lakes like WEst Point with no cover.
