Judging by the pic, it looks like you sat down in the driver's seat to belly land him?

I caught one that was less than 2 inches long back in March. The bend of the hook was as wide as his mouth

Every since the blue heron shad have been turned loose in smith I hear it has really made a difference. They have shocked the blue heron up in the Oliver pool here in Tuscaloosa said they came from smith winter before last in a flood, I hope they make a difference here soon ,I been to smith only one time and it is a lake you sure have to know how fish. PS very nice fish.

Back when I used to get to fish, we fished Smith a good bit. Caught many nice spots and largemouth up there. Crappie catches were very good also. Caught my first 2 lb.+ crappie there and my first 4 lb+ spot. I always enjoyed fishing Smith. Last time I fished it was probably the late 90's or early 2000's. I'm sure the scenery has changed a lot on the lake as more and more folks have built up that way. We used to fish around Bailey's camp and Rock Creek. Hope to do it all again one day.
