Squash plant experiment

Well the bore worms get me every year. I’ve read on here and watch several videos to prevent them. I have 10-15 plants in 2 rows. I’m picking 6-8 nice ones a day this heat has slowed them way down.
I left a few uncovered with nothing on them.
I wrapped a few stems with aluminum foil NOT really worth the trouble the squash vine out the the wrap exposing the stem.
What seems to work is I piled sand around the stem. I think dirt would work????
I did spray all the stems where they met the dirt 5-6 inches up with neem oil water mix every 6-8 days. I tried to not get the oil on the fruit. I soaked the sand with oil the sand would hold the oil. I really think this helped
So far I’ve lost 3 plants. 2 were wrapped in foil and one with nothing on it. So far the sand works??????????
We have had no rain to wash away the sand I use soaker hoses which are under the sand.

Them dirty bastards took out all my squash and zucchini plants.

There was a scrotum squash hung on back of guys truck a few years ago at work. Put a wire through it. Hung as a joke from a bubbly or 2. Hung it on a Friday he saw it Sunday morning went all weekend with it on. Said he drove serval places Saturday.

Try moving your crops around and remove all the plants.

Have you tried Neem OIl?
