Poultry Enclosure Height - 08/25/20 12:23 AM
I currently have my chickens and two turkeys in a 15x20 chain link enclosure with a net top and a fairly large enclosed coop for them all to go into at night. I’m thinking about adding a larger external run for them to get out and get some grass and have a new place to scratch around. Would 4’ woven wire keep them in or would they just fly right over it?

Better put a top on it from my experience or the hawks will have a field day.
They will fly out, I've got ours completely enclosed. I went with 5' chicken wire around the outside and some plastic netting on top.

They will fly out and if you don’t have something to keep the predators out, you will be missing some birds!

I have 4 foot chain link. A few of my chickens fly up to the top of the fence and hop over.

Just make an enclosed tunnel, chickens like to play Army.
I was told you can criss-cross fishing line over the top and birds won't bother them. But I've never tried it.
I think the varmits will still climb over

I’ve heard a guard goose is good to keep around chickens. I’ve also heard the fishing line trick works too.
