We are eat up with them suckers all of a sudden. Crop rotation and regular spraying of Neem Oil and they still found a way to damage about half of our squash plants this year.
I quit planting squash and zucchini even though they are prob my favorite veggies to eat out of the garden. Do they eat watermelon? Havenβt seen any yet but if they do Iβm sure my melons will be gone soon.
My squash was looking awesome yesterday and had the first fruit getting ready to pick. Got home today and about half of them looked almost completely dead. I think they have had too much rain. The main vines had moldy and brown looking spots and those were the vines that were dead. I dont know how you screw up squash but I have the past 2 years

Spinosad will kill the nymphs and young ones. Adults can survive a tactical nuke. Best bet is to keep on the young ones with intermittent spraying and squish the adults as you see them. Avoid having any mulch or garden litter around your plants because that's where the adults hide out.
Well after a couple heavy doses of Neem Oil and scraping off and stomping the eggs we seem to be making a little progress. Not completely on the clear but it is looking better. Hopefully we can save a couple plants.
