Sweet corn!!

After missing all the rain this morning, I decided it was a good day to put some corn in the ground. Also put some contender snap beans and some Henderson Limas also.

That's some pretty dirt.

I'm ready to start planting myself.

I know an old timer who planted his sweet corn in South Alabama on February 15 unless it fell on a Sunday. He claimed to always have a great crop because of all of the rain that falls during that time of year......found that interesting.

About the first of April here.....It will come up in early March but won't grow much until warmer weather in April.

I normally plant a patch of corn the first week of April and another patch the first of may .

Blue corn?

Treated seed. Most sweet corn is pink. Not sure why this one is blue.
