ruby red throats - 03/29/18 08:15 PM

I had two males show up last week. Saw a report where a banded HB was caught and had been banded two days before in La. 310 miles in two days. Pretty amazing.
When they get to full strength, I usually feed 15-20 here at my place.

I saw that post on facebook earlier also... that's amazing how quickly that travel. I put my feeder out yesterday and had a bird show up within an hour or so.

Mom and Dad will have 30-40 flying around in late summer. It's like a warzone in the backyard with them chasing each other. They will also buzz you if you get too close to the feeder. Also great to watch them give the cats hell.

I haven't seen any yet. I usually have around 15-20 and I have a really awesome video of about 10 fighting and diving over 1 feeder. I can even hold my hand to the feeder and they will perch on it to feed. Love hummingbirds!

I was on my porch a couple of years ago and saw what I first believed to be 2 hummers fighting, but then realized they were not fighting - although he did have to chase her down!

well I guess its feast of famine. I've only had one or two birds all summer but in the last week or so they have shown up in force ! I had about a dozen here this morning .

That's normal. The more you have now, the more you're going to have. They're either already migrating, or getting ready to start.

Saw one at the hunting camp last weekend. Guess I’ll mix up some sugar water in the next couple days.

Had one come in and check out the red release handle on my garage door. I filled up the feeder and haven't seen one since.
