Winter Bees Update

Winter Bees Update - 01/11/18 10:04 PM

We have about 7 weeks until Spring.
My bees have done fairly well through the winter so far. I left July with 4 hives and one just absconded but the other three are still chugging along. I dropped gallon bags of winter syrup mix in yesterday on two of them.
The third one is mean as hell and I'm just feeding them via jar feeder in the front. Frankly I'm hoping they limp through winter so I can re-queen in spring.

I'd like to do splits this next year and go into fall with some nucs and maybe 6-8 hives if possible. All in all no complaints so far.

Sounds good. I’ve lost some due to piss poor beekeeping. Not feeding them up prior to winter. If we can get a warm day I’m going to feed. I hoped to be able to do that this week but the weather didn’t cooperate here.

I just got a Tractor Supply e-mail about their bee supplies. I didn't know they even sold live bees.
