Nuthern on the tailgate (almost) - 12/24/19 10:06 PM

Took a call last nite from a guy that shot one him and his buddies tracked for about a 100 yds and lost blood. He got ahold of me through another feller and I told him me and rooster would be directly. We get there and I start rooster and we going along finding sparse blood but enough to keep me interested in keeping goin.wr go about 300 yards past where they lost blood and come to a pond rooster stuck his nose in the water and acted like he wanted to go swimming.i brought him back to a waypoint I marked on the gps and restarted him. He took me back to the exact spot on the edge of the pond. So I decided I would walk him around the pond and did a loop around it and he took me back to same spot. It being dark and a lil sketchy on how deep the water was and no boat I told the hunter I felt certain the deer had went in the pond and drowned or died in the water.well he went back in there this morning with a boat and found his deer in the water

I got a call from the Shelby Co Sherifffs Office about a missing child around 2000 maybe. I took my Taz dog to his house and let her smell some of his clothes and off we went.We tracked pretty good but of course there was no blood to verify we were on the track. We went about two miles and came up to the Cahaba River just below Hwy 280, but right above the dam. Taz tracked straight to the water at a sharp drop off, stood and looked at me. I took her off and went up and down river, had searchers look across the river...nothing. Taz went back to the same spot on the bank. I told the Sheriff the boy was in the river. The next day divers found him right where Taz said he was. First time she had ever tracked a missing person, did it like a pro, I just still wish it had been a better outcome.

The dog is always right.
