Ear Mites - 07/10/17 06:58 PM
What to use to kill them? I've tried Mineral Oil and I'm not getting any results.
You sure it is ear mites?

Pretty sure. Got the little black specs (dried blood) in the ear.

What kind of animal? It's pretty strange to have ear mites in a dog or cat unless they are strays. Not impossible but strange. Milbemycin oxime will kill them. Selemectin too. Mineral will not. Take a swab of the ear. Ear mites are visible to the naked eye. Very small white dots moving.

Okay, I'll take a swab and see. It's 3 dogs. One beagle and two small mutts. They shake their head a lot.

Hit 'em with a cc or two of ivermec inside the ear. It'll kill whatever's in there and shouldn't hurt them.

To late now I guess but an old timer told me to soak green walnuts in water and put the liquid in the ear. I haven't tried it but I will if I think mine gets mites. He kept the mixture frozen. What was the cure?

Probably a yeast infection. A vet can tell you what it is and give meds to knock it out.
