Ft Bragg buck - 11/18/12 08:20 PM

This Buck was killed a few miles from where I live on post and hunt. It weighed 183lbs after it was gutted. We are not supposed to field dress but Jerry was by himself and would not have been able to load it had he not. He is retired and has been hunting this deer for 3 weeks. It had 24inch spread but I don't not know any other measurements. I'd like to get an idea of score I'm guessing 140+. Let me know what y'all think.

There are several really good deer taken every year here but I haven't seen one like this in a while and couldn't have been taken a nicer guy.

That is a fine deer but I'm thinking low 130's. Not much mass and weak left side is going to make it tough to reach much higher. Congrats to the hunter.

That thing has got alot of width between the ears. If the left side would have matched the right, it would have really been nice. Good deer and congratulations to the hunter.

Obvious he is not mounting it. Never seen one gutted to the head.

Great buck.... but whoever gutted that deer ruined the cape. Can't imagine someone cutting him all the way up like that.

I was thinking the same thing about the mount. But he wanted a euro mount. I, think I would have done a shoulder. I didn't really notice the left side but now that y'all mentioned it do sent match.

bigcountry,

You know what area he was killed in? I hunted there around 89-92. Back then NTA was pretty good.

I haven't either, but I guess you wouldn't have to reach your hands down in to drag anything out like that. Good buck though.

It was in the north east area in OO off of mcarthur road. All of the NTA areas are under QDMA. they're good areas and I hunt NTA 8 fairly often, lots of good deer come out of there.
