What happened to his eye?

It’s possible he has an injury if it doesn’t shine as brightly in other photos. An antler to the eye is very common.

Something happened, twig to the eye, antler to the eye, IDK what but something happened.

I thought I figured it out for a second.



Then there is another picture of his eye looking fine hours later.

I don't think he's blinking, I'm not sure about the antler to the eye either now, I would think that would do more damage but I've never seen that first hand so I can't say for sure. As far as I know deer don't blink one eye at a time consistently, I have several other images of him this way, and several images just days earlier where he was fine. Appreciate the suggestions though, I think my vote remains twig to the eye.

This. Sometimes the IR flash doesn't hit their eyes evenily enough to reflect back at the camera due to their head being at a angle or their eye moved slightly. Ive had trail cams from since they first come out with the full blown flash and 35mm film all the way to the latest and greatest and I can tell you that this is not uncommon. Hes fine.
