School me on cell cams - 11/08/19 01:54 AM

Would like to get one or two. Are any brands better or worse than others?

I use coverts and easy setup with no problems. I’m sure other higher end cams are as good or better. I would stay with the better known brands. Those are just what I use.

Ask 257 about Moultrie

I’ve been using coverts for about 5-6 years now

I like the setup that Covert uses, but their triggers leave a lot to be desired.

Covert if you want to run 1 or 2. Cuddeback if you want to run more than that

You can adjust trigger speed on covert 4g. I like my coverts but trying a spartan next just to compare. You gonna get what you pay for if you go spypoint or muletree.

Cuddielink is cheaper to run from a cell service standpoint and the cameras are a good bit cheaper than Covert. With Covert you can download high res pics and you get thumbnails with Cudde. Covert sends real-time pics, cuddie sends every hour. Covert requires cell service for every camera and Cuddie requires service for the home unit.

I run both and I’m slowly leaning towards cuddie

I bought 2 spypoints last year and have regretted it ever since. Luckily someone stole one so I’ve only experienced half of the disappointment I could have been subjected to. I bought spartan gocams this year and couldn’t be happier with them.

Spartan. Although my brother has a spypoint too and knock on wood we haven’t had any of the issues that some have had. It’s done what it’s supposed to do.

I just bought a Moultrie the other day. Played with it around the house and seemed to work fine. Put it in the woods this afternoon and have a few pics already with no false triggers so far. After the rebate and all I'll have $95 in it. Hope it does good in the long run, has a 3 year warranty if it doesn't I guess.

I'm running 2 moultrie's, they have been flawless. I've seen a lot of people have issues with them, most could be avoided by using the recommended SD card (which is hard to find). I've also heard their customer support is garbage, hopefully I won't need them. I know the covert are better, but i can't justify $300 for 1 when I can get 2 moultries for $190 after rebate.

could you expand on the pros and cons of Cuddelink system a little more? Can the "base camera" function on it own while I save up the funds to get more satellite cams

Yes, it can. This is the home camera you will want. It was new this year.

appreciate it! so this works as a home camera and an individual unit? Is this the one I keep reading about that is so bulky?

I’ve been running two spartan cameras since September and they have been flawless.

Yes it can work as a home or standalone. Yes they are more bulky than most cameras on the market

Does the Spartan and covert send pictures instantly like a text? I want one to put on the driveway gate where I am building a house for a security cam.

Re: School me on cell cams - 11/29/19 11:16 PM

Yes. 1 min delay roughly
